FUNDRAISING
Restore a Smile; Restore a Life Local Dentists Work Together to Raise Funds for Women’s Shelter Program Pismo Beach- Five years ago Dr. Guy Jones of Central Coast Smiles decided to take a stand against domestic violence. He created the Restore a Smile; Restore a Life campaign, to raise funds for the Women’s Shelter Program of San Luis Obispo (WSP). Over the years, more and more local dentists asked to be a part of this effort to combat domestic violence in our community. The program is simple. During the month of June, local dentists offer teeth whitening services for half price ($195) and donate the entire fee to the Women’s Shelter Program. The donation is tax-deductible and anyone can participate. The program has been incredibly successful so far, raising thousands of dollars that directly benefit victims of domestic violence and their children. These funds are a crucial part of the Women’s Shelter Program. Every cent raised goes into the WSP’s general fund, which covers expenses state and federal grants do not. For example, years ago the WSP realized there was a desperate need for transitional housing, but there were no grants for buying property. Through the general fund, the WSP was able to put a down payment on a small apartment complex for women and their children to live after leaving the safe house. This discount housing allows victims the time they need to get back on their feet financially and emotionally. Without fundraisers like the Restore A Smile campaign, it would have been impossible to provide this housing. The WSP provides an emergency safe house, counseling, case management, legal support, childcare, transitional housing and much more. The more smiles we brighten, the more the WSP will be able to help those in need. Thank you for supporting this worthwhile cause. When & where can I get my teeth whitened for half-price??
