Our Safe House is a confidential shelter that provides safety, support and referrals to victims of intimate partner violence and their children. It is a four week program with one week extensions as needed, with an average stay of eight weeks. The program consists of safe shelter, legal assistance, advocacy, and counseling services.
In order to access our Safe House, start by calling our crisis line at: 805.781.6400. Our staff is available to discuss options, provide valuable referrals and help determine whether our Safe House Program is most appropriate for your situation.
Once at the Safe House, adjusting may be difficult at first, however, most residents settle in quickly with the relief that they are safe. Food, clothes, personal hygiene items, and other resources are available for clients who have had to leave their belongings behind. Our Safe House services are free of charge to any victim of intimate partner violence. The Safe House is a communal living environment. Each resident has their own room, and there is a shared kitchen and living area. As clients progress through the program, the goal is for them to achieve self-sufficiency. Our agency offers advocacy services, legal assistance, and counseling services to each Safe House client as they work towards this goal. Once a client has exited the Safe House, they still have access to Women’s Shelter services as needed.
